How do face recognition door locks work?
A face recognition door lock uses a 3D camera to map your facial features and unlocks automatically as you approach, truly hands-free entry with nothing to touch, type or carry. It’s the most convenient lock type for premium UAE villas.
Unlike a flat photo scan, 3D face recognition reads depth, so it works in low light and can’t be fooled by a printed picture. The face data stays encrypted on the lock. Does face recognition work in the dark?
Yes. 3D face-recognition locks use infrared structured light, so they recognise you in complete darkness as reliably as in daylight, useful for late arrivals at a villa entrance.
Can a photo of me open the lock?
No. 3D face recognition reads the depth and contours of a real face, so a flat printed photo or a phone screen won’t unlock it. This makes it far more secure than basic 2D camera locks.
How fast is face-recognition entry?
Recognition typically takes under one second and many models auto-unlock as you approach, so the door is open by the time you reach it, ideal when carrying shopping or children.
What if it doesn’t recognise me, am I locked out?
Never. Every face lock we supply keeps fingerprint, PIN, card, app and mechanical key as backups, so you always have multiple ways in if lighting or appearance changes.
Will sunglasses, a beard or a shayla affect recognition?
You can register multiple looks (for example with and without glasses). Significant face coverings may need a backup method, which is why we register at least two unlock options per user.
